Wellness Tourism is a weekly newsletter at the intersection of health and wellness, travel, movement, and philosophy. The focus is on the inner journey, and how wellness and travel experiences shape our emotional landscape. Rather than repeating industry narratives, I explore how these experiences are actually lived and felt, drawing from personal insight and occasional conversations with expert voices.
You'll find lifestyle content here: feature articles, expert conversations, and personal essays. Topics move across physical, emotional, mental and spiritual dimensions. Areas I intend to explore include conversations with health practitioners touching on hormones, brain health, longevity and mental health, as well as insights from professionals in sports, hospitality, travel and retreat organisations. Alongside this, reflections on broader human topics: relationships, loneliness, love, grief, friendship, and what it means to live well.
Wellness Tourism moves in five ways:
Wanderlust, letting curiosity widen our perspective on care.
Action, taking ownership, showing up courageously, and trusting that momentum grows through movement.
Equanimity, learning about balance and practising it daily.
Integration, honouring the in-between, letting time and patience shape change.
Meaning, living by values, so intention and gratitude guide choices.
Life is fleeting, and we often move through it without pausing to reflect. Wellness Tourism aims to create space for that reflection. It speaks to those passionate about holistic health, inner wellbeing, and a world of peace and harmony. My hope is that like-minded readers of Wellness Tourism find each other along the way.
Hi, I’m Helena Strömberg, creator of the Wellness Tourism newsletter.
is about balance between doing and being, discipline, and a holistic approach to health.
I'm open-minded to all healing and wellness practices, and have experience with many. I'm also a doer who thrives on daily movement, something I carry with me wherever I go. As part of my active lifestyle I enjoy running, Reformer Pilates, tennis and skiing. My deepest passion is yoga, which I discovered during an exchange year in Sicily in 2000. After moving to London in 2008, I established a daily practice across Vinyasa, Ashtanga, Rocket, Hot, Power and Yin yoga. I had the privilege of learning directly from many of the leading teachers in the field. The practice has supported me tremendously over the years, taken me travelling, and equipped me with tools to manage stress and maintain balance, which is why I have also trained to be able to teach: sharing with others what has genuinely helped me.
As a Yoga Alliance RYT 500 certified Yoga teacher with a holistic, trauma-informed approach, I offer private sessions for individuals and groups, as well as destination yoga at hotels, resorts and studios.
My teaching includes:
Yang: Rocket, Vinyasa, Power and Ashtanga yoga
Yin: Yin yoga, Yoga Nidra and restorative yoga
Additionally: Traditional Chinese Medicine Five Elements yoga, Acupressure yoga, Meditation, Breathwork and Somatic-based practices
I'll write from experience about sports, strength training, anatomy-based movement and mobility work, practices that support wellbeing and treatment modalities such as acupuncture, sound healing, rapid transformational therapy and hypnotherapy. And lifestyle choices that shape quality of life: nutrition, sleep, sobriety and gut health.
is about curiosity, adventure and connection. Home is where I am, travel has always felt natural. As a Swedish-speaking Finn, born in Germany, much of my life has been lived abroad. Over the years I've visited more than 41 countries, lived in 6, studied 7 languages and speak 5.
I love to travel, and experiencing different cultures first-hand has shaped how I see the world and deepened my understanding of the many ways people approach living well.
I'll sometimes share travel stories and reflections from places that struck a chord: Cuba, Indonesia, Brazil, France, South Africa, Canada, India and beyond. There are countless places that moved me through their stunning nature, vibrant communities, impressive history, or breathtaking oceans.
